Part 1: Evidences

Does God Exist?

For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.
Romans Chapter 1, Verse 20 (NIV)

This scripture from the Holy Bible tells us that God’s being is very evident from the things He has made.  In seeing these things, modern men have little reason for disbelief.  We have even less excuse for disbelief than the people of long ago when Paul penned these words.  We have many discoveries of modern science that tell with great certainty that God created everything.

After about the nineteenth century, however, mankind began to be led away from God by the ideas of evolution.  Charles Darwin proposed the theory of evolution in about 1850.  It tells that all living creatures came to be by natural processes.  There were first the minerals in the seas.  These combined to form the first tiny living creatures.  These slowly changed, the theory tells, to become more complex living things.  After millions of years today’s creatures came to be.

Because evolution is taught widely in our schools, disbelief in God is more widespread than in previous centuries.  Curiously, the evolution theory is thought by many credible modern scientists to be a very poor theory.  While most schools refer to creationism as an “off beat” theory, it seems obvious that evolutionism is simply a thing of politics, largely without scientific support.

Microbiologists, scientists who study the composition and structure of living cells, tend to be leaders against the idea of evolution.  These scientists have recently found a micro-world of amazing complexity.  I urge you to find and read the following two references:

Darwin’s Black Box—the biochemical challenge to evolution.  Michael J. Behe.  Free Press, New York

Mere Creation—Science, Faith & Intelligent Design.  Edited by William A. Dembski.  (Contributions by Michael Behe, David Berlinski, Phillip Johnson, Hugh Ross and others.)  InterVarsity Press, Downers Grove , Illinois.  Copyright 1998.

These show that vision, blood-clotting, cellular transport, and more, reveal far too much complication for evolution to be workable.  The chemical machines that make these bodily functions possible include a world of independent parts that work precisely together.  For evolution to be true each part must have resulted from a series of mutations.  But these parts are quite independent and complicated.  This makes it hard to believe in Darwin’s gradual paths of development.  Scientific literature seems to be baffled by these findings and remains silent about them.

Thus we can see the hand of God in creation itself proving that God truly exists.  The lesson, The Bible, will tell more about how the Bible, itself, proves that God is.

Thus, today, we have even less excuse for disbelief than the ancients had.

Then Jesus told him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."
John, Chapter 20, Verse 29
