CHURCH VISION, BELIEFS, & PRACTICES
Adams Blvd Church of Christ
Vision/Mission
The Adams Boulevard Church of Christ exists to love and serve God
through our worship of Him and through our love of and service to
people. (Mark 12:30-31)
The foundation of our Vision/Mission is found
in these core beliefs:
-
There is one true and eternal God, the creator of
the heavens and the earth, existing in three persons: God the
Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. (John 1:1-5, Ephesians
4:4-6)
-
The Bible is the only inspired, infallible and
authoritative Word of God, a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our
path. (2 Timothy 3:16, Psalms 119:105))
-
All mankind has sinned and fallen short of the glory
of God. (Romans 3:23)
-
God, out of his love for mankind, sent his son Jesus
to earth to be the perfect sacrifice for our sins and to rise from
the dead. (1 Corinthians 15:1-8)
-
Salvation cannot be gained by human effort but only
through God’s grace in the redemption He provided in Jesus Christ.
(Romans 3:23-24)
-
Salvation is a free gift to all who believe in
Christ and are willing to repent of their sins and be baptized into
Him by immersion for the forgiveness of sins. (Romans 10:9-11, Acts
2:38)
-
The church is the body of Christ on earth, empowered
by the Holy Spirit to continue the task of seeking and saving the
lost and discipling the saved. (Ephesians 4:1-16)
Our core beliefs are manifested in these
guiding principles and practices:
-
At all times we let Christ’s life of sacrifice,
service and holiness guide our actions, thoughts and speech.
(Philippians 2:3-11)
-
We share the good news of Christ with our community
and the world, realizing His power to transform lives. (2
Corinthians 5:20)
-
We endeavor to prepare all members for fulfillment
of their God-called purpose by providing the spiritual training and
resources necessary. (Romans 12:1-8)
-
We love and care for the church family as we seek to
grow closer to God. (Ephesians 4:32, Romans 12:9-18))
-
We seek unity in all matters but acknowledge that
differences among members may result in differing interpretations
and understanding of scripture; in such disputable matters we
recognize that God will judge each of us according to what we do in
faith, and we will not presume to take His place. (Romans 14:1-15:6)
-
We realize that Christ’s church is not limited to
our congregation, and we seek opportunities for fellowship with
other believers. (1 Corinthians 9:19-23; Mark 9:38-41)
-
We strive to honor God through spirit-filled
worship. (John 4:24; Psalms 100)
-
We partake of the Lord’s Supper each first day of
the week. (Acts 20:7)
-
We immerse believers for the remission of their sins
that they might receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:38;
Matthew 28:19)
-
We choose to worship in song without accompaniment of
instruments. (Ephesians 5:19-20)
-
We practice and support the full autonomy of each
congregation in its beliefs and practices. (Acts 14:21-23)
-
We voluntarily submit to elders for spiritual
leadership of the congregation. (Hebrews 13:17)
-
We provide scripture-based teaching to believers and
non-believers. (1 Timothy 2:1-4, 2 Timothy 3:16-17)
-
We serve those in need, both inside and outside the
church. (Galatians 6:9-10)
-
We strive for a family atmosphere among our members.
(2 Corinthians 13:12-13, 1 Peter 4:9-10, 1 John 1:7)
-
We value our heritage and traditions and are open in
our efforts to follow God’s will. (1 Corinthians 9:21-23)
-
We believe that all have unique gifts, talents and
abilities, and we challenge our members to use them faithfully in
service to God and mankind. (Romans 12:6-8, Ephesians 4:11-13)
